Despite feeling really lazy, I did get *some* stuff accomplished...
I got a really cute black & white skirt from Macy's. I can't find a picture of it online, but it's a bamboo & floral print and I love it. Did have to take it to the alterations to shorten it a little bit, but it will be perfect for this summer.
I had my red Ecco ballet flats stretched out a little bit. The top part went over one of my foot bones and it was tres annoying. So now it's all fixed. Thank you, Nordstrom! Though, they do now charge for a heat stretching (which I did), and the non-heat is still free.
My car in annoying me with a message that maintenance is required. It just hit 5000 miles and I need to get its oil changed. Tomorrow, I'm getting it done. And for free, thanks for the coupons I got from the dealer. Yay!
After much discussion, we booked a summer trip to Sol Duc Hot Springs. It's just a long weekend, but it'll be in August where hopefully the weather will be hot. It's located in the Olympic National Forest up in the mountains, so temps tend to be cooler up there. We're going to stay in a cabin, too! We're really excited about that.
Oh, and we're getting a new Tivo! Some of you may know that we already have Tivo, so we know how great it is. But I got Hubby our original Tivo more than 5 years ago as a Christmas present. It's still going strong, but these days they have much better models with HD, dual-tuners, and much more space. So, they finally had a great deal and Hubby decided it was time. This also means that we have to go back to digital cable because the new HD Tivo does not work with satellite. It doesn't make much difference to me, since Dish hasn't been all that great to us as of late (we haven't had our ABC affiliate since December! And the picture quality on FOX is spotty, which is unacceptible when watching House or 24). The only cable company around here is Comcast, and while we hate the company, it's our only option.
On an unrelated note...
Hubby is off from jury duty. It's a relief since he wasn't getting paid by his employer for the days missed (everyone else on his jury was, however). And now that he's done with it, he can talk about it. In short, it was a civil case resulting from a car accident. The Defendant was making a left turn and the Plaintiff hit the Defendant. The Defendant conceded guilt (even though other drivers were waving him through), but the Plaintiff was suing for damages, in addition to medical costs (current and future). It was up to the jury to determine the award.
There's a lot more to it, but basically it got Hubby thinking. The Defendant has car insurance (as per law in this state), but it was not enough to pay the award. Our own policy wouldn't have been enough either, even though it's a pretty middle-of-the-road policy. So, we have increased our policy limits which pretty much have been the same for many years now. Because when it comes down to it, medical costs have gone up exponentially. That was the bulk of the award they gave the Plaintiff.
So, take a closer look at your auto insurance policy. If you haven't increased your coverages in a while (namely the Comprehensive and Underinsured Motorist portions), you might want to do so. Because the best time to do it is before something bad happens.
